I came across this by firstly discovering their Barberia fragrance and as much as I liked that I am absolutely blown away by this, their original fragrance and I can see why it has endured for over 100 years. Opening with a big hit of sherbet lemon it quickly dries down to something much more subtle with geranium and lavender coming through. You can detect its shared DNA with the first eaux de cologne like 4711 or Farina Extra Vielle but Alvarez Gomes just do it better and raise the bar again. As a true cologne, it will not last all day but it has a wonderful freshness and lightness that is the perfect antidote to overpowering, cloying EDT's and perfumes which can seem more like a smack on the nose than a caress of the senses. Wonderful in warm weather, a spritz of this when travelling or otherwise hot & bothered refreshes instantly almost like magic.
