Infuriating to set-up and I have some worries, 26 July 2017

I've been using this Angelcare system for two days now and, compared to the Babysense I previously owned, it was infuriating to set-up. It requires a 300x300x60mm hardwood base that is not supplied. It's also not immediately suitable for wicker cots as there is insufficient room for the anti-strangle system. You must remove and refit it so the cable can fit through the smaller gap. This is a fiddly and time consuming process but worth it in the end. Batteries were supplied for only two of the three units which was annoying. The remote units have lost their connection twice already and resetting them requires the base unit be plugged into the mains. This is not clear and I wasted a lot of time following the trouble-shooting tips to no avail. It's not a distance or interference issue but a procedural one. If a new connection is not made within 30 seconds the remote units gives up and you need to repeat the procedure. Could the connection fail while the baby is asleep? I don't know but...

Fiddly set up is more than worth it, 16 Mar. 2018

There's no getting round the fact that the set up of this is more fiddly than the average baby monitor. It's not a case of picking it out of the box and plugging it straight in. If you are sleep deprived it can seem stupidly complex. (But then so do most things!) If you have someone about who isn't sleep deprived around, I strongly suggest involving them in the setup.

BUT (and it's a big BUT) once it's set up its brilliant. Great sound pick up, sensor mat really works and we've only had 1 false alarm in 3 months. (Bub had wiggled himself to lie horizontally at the very top of the cot.) The nightlight is an unexpected bonus, casting a light that is perfect for a night-time feed. Finding a bit of wood to place the sensor on took us a grand total of 5 minutes rooting in the shed - so not as complicated as some reviewers would have you think.

For me as a slightly nervous first time mum it has been worth the splurge because it's made transitioning baby to his own room...

Reliable monitor, 4 Dec. 2015
We had this monitor for our first son 5 years ago and bought a new one just recently for our new baby (old one got broken in house move). I've found it to be 100% reliable when used with a Moses basket or cot, with a piece of plywood underneath the sensor pad (it must be placed on a hard surface in order to work properly).
