Love this system, but it is not for CONSTANT STREAMING, 2 May 2015

WARNING - this is a great camera system, really clear both day and night. The night vision is fantastic. BUT it is not suitable for constant streaming i.e. if you want to sit and watch it over a long period of time. The batteries would go done very quickly doing this. In fact, streaming turns off (and has to be restarted) after 30 minutes. So, if you want to use it as a baby monitor, be aware of this. And remember there is NO SOUND on this system. Note that although the stream is 'off' most of the time, the motion sensing and recording on detection is still ON, unless you turn it OFF, which you can do in the settings.

What it is meant for is to 'check in' periodically for a few minutes at a time. Or to turn on after a motion alert to check what caused it. Motion alerts are sent to your designated e-mail, and this system records automatically for the time you set after it detects motion. It stores these little videos in the cloud, and you can check them to see what triggered...

Perfect easy to use home CCTV system, 25 Sept. 2015

Having had a key safe installed at our house so that carers could let themselves in to tend to my elderly father in law, I decided it was a prudent idea to get some CCTV covering the area where the safe was installed, and the doors into the house. I specifically wanted outdoor cameras, wireless so that I didn't have to run cables and HD so that I could capture good quality footage. Having done some googling, I discovered the Arlo system. Straight away it ticked all the boxes - and given the cameras are battery powered, it meant I didn't have to plan for running power to them. Perfect. Though I did have some concerns about how long batteries would last.

Setup is easy - press one button on the camera and they paired to the base unit. Creating an Arlo account is easy - and you can sign in using the iPhone app. That's it... You're away. Range is excellent too - All 3 of my cameras are outside - one is mounted on the garage looking at the back of the house - and the walls in our house...

In my initial review of this product I gave it one star because there were so many problems with the cloud service. Fortunately, Netgear have fixed the major issues.

First off, a warning to BT Internet users. If you have a BT Home Hub 3, Arlo will not work with it. If you have a BT Home Hub 4 or BT Home Hub 5, it will work with Arlo, but you may need to make some configuration changes to your BT Hub. PROS:

It is easy to set up, and if you have any problems, there is a tech support number you can call. Just be aware the number is 0844 so it is chargeable.

The wireless range is very good. I can place a camera 200ft down my garden and the camera still works fine. Netgear claim it has a range of 300ft, but in my experience 200ft is the limit.

The cameras are really quite tiny and...
