What a great idea, I wish we'd know about these sooner ... our new born was latching very hard indeed causing considerable pain, positions were all perfect as per many midwives / heath visitors advice but it was still initially very painful indeed ... these took the edge off and after a few days were only needed for the initial latch when baby was fairly ferocious! Once she got some milk she calmed right down and the shields could be removed and feeding could continue .... after about a month we didn't need these at all.

I wish the NCT / midwives / anyone!! had mentioned these before birth as these would have saved a lot of sawness

We were even told by midwives that these should not be used .... total and utter rubbish, the use of these actually enabled us to continue breast feeding, they allowed the nipples to heal whilst baby learned how to breast feed calmly .... if we'd used them at the first signs of pain the damage would have been less and breast feeding...

These helped a lot during the first few weeks of breastfeeding. They're made of a sturdier material compared to other brands which I found kept collapsing and therefore useless. Highly recommended if you have flat nipples or are struggling with soreness.

No cracked nipples for me, can be a little fiddly when your baby becomes a little more wriggly at feeding time
