We bought this unit because it combined the essentials that we needed at a reasonable price. The sensor pad connects to the base unit that is then placed under the mattress and once activated a small indicator and click sound is emitted from the unit or if switched on the clicking sound indicating the babies continued movement is transferred to the handheld unit along with the usual but very clear sound monitoring. If after 20 seconds no movement is detected an alarm sounds until either you switch the unit off or when a new movement is detected. I stress the word movement ! Its amazing how it detects even the smallest movement thats not even visible to the naked eye. You can even test it by just slightly touching the mattress with your finger to see how slight It Is. At the moment we are not using the remote handheld unit much as we have the baby sleeping In our room but if my partner needs to pop in and out of the room I can have the mobile unit on whilst I am decorating in a nearby...
