This is great for newborns. Together with swaddling in a large muslin, it makes my baby feel really cosy and safe so she sleeps better and for longer. I have two, one in her crib and one in the carrycot for the pram - so that she doesn't rattle around too much in it! Also helps with preventing flat head...

Our baby was only lying on one side of his head and we were concerned that as he grew, his head shape wouldn't quite develop properly, so we bought this mat to help with that. It certainly did the job and now at 5 months old, our son will alternate from one side to the other when lying/sleeping on his back. It also helps when they are first learning to roll over onto their front, as the lower cushion part can stop them from doing that initially, should you be concerned about them rolling onto their front and getting stuck there!
