As someone who has tried different types of baby monitor I feel qualified to say that this is a good monitor. It's easy to set up, the sound quality is good and the range is great. My only real criticism is that, in bringing out a new model, they have felt the need to tinker with things that didn't need tinkering with. The 250 is supposed to 'replace' the 150 which was a completely brilliant monitor. With two young children I needed another monitor so I thought I'd go for the new model. Now, if you're a new Mum you will probably want to hear every snuffle your darling baby makes. This won't last and soon you'll only want to be disturbed in the middle of the night if completely necessary, i.e., if the crying is very loud. The 150 had 5 sensitivity levels, 5 being with the microphone permanently on and 1 and 2 where the sound only transmits when the crying on the other end is at a certain volume. This was a brilliant feature but one that BT have felt the need to meddle with. On the 250...

We bought a second-hand BT150, a brilliant monitor until it develop quite a lot of faults when we guess it was around 3 yrs old. Less than a year ago we got a new BT250 - the updated model - and today I'm shopping for another one because the supposedly improved model (the 250) is basically junk. First the screen started to go (was that meant to be a "2" or an "8" on the temp display?"). Then it would switch off in the middle of the night even when sat on the charger. Now the batteries have died.
But it's not just the faults which have been a let-down. Right from opening the box it was clear BT had halved the production costs but kept the same price. With the old version (the 150) the base unit and parent units had matching screens and controls so you could set lullaby tunes from the base, and also read the temp, and check/change the other settings. On the 250 the base unit has no controls - it is basically a remote microphone and temperature sensor which sends a signal to...

The design is a bright, attractive modern design in white and purple and set up and use proved to be pretty simple.
There are clear instructions on initial charging for the maximum battery life, which seem to have worked well and I haven't had any problems. It seems obvious to say, but keep the parent unit in the base when you don't need it to be mobile to prevent it running low when you need to take it out. At night it can stay in the base to be fully charged. However, other reviews seem to indicate that the battery life isn't the best and perhaps that is true, I think if cared for correctly, it shouldn't be a cause of concern.
The "walkie talkie" feature of being able to speak to the baby unit from the parent unit might be useful if you want to speak in soothing tones to your child to help them go off to sleep, although you might prefer to switch on the lullabies instead, which you can operate from the parent unit.
The music/lullabies are much higher...
