Easily broken and not repairable, 20 Dec. 2011

I have 3 of these gates, and was happy with them for quite a long time - they're well adjustable, sturdy and easy enough for an adult to open.Unfortunately the little button that you press to open the gate seems to be easily broken, though - in such a way that it pings out and can be easily eaten by babies and small children.I contacted Baby Dan to find out whether spares are available - the problem is that the button wears if you don't press it just right when opening the gate, and so over time becomes more and more prone to popping out. So, you'd think it would be easy to get spares. Sadly, it turns out that NO PART of this gate is replaceable, which seems a bit crappy. I'll have to buy a different stairgate rather than continue with a dangerous one.

Fiddly and Does not push to close - broke after four months, 30 April 2015

The gate is simple to fix but I find the closure mechanism on it frustrating and fiddly - especially if you are trying to do it in a hurry. The second annoyance is that once unlocked in order for it to stay open you have to lift it or it swings back on you - these two annoyances also mean that you can't push it to close which is a nightmare when your arms of full of twins! Again this was something we were able to live with until last week when it just popped off its hinges and we cannot work out how on earth to get it back together. I would not recommend this product. Far happier with the Lindam Sure Shut Deco gates in that same wooden and metal effect - kick that closed behind you and it shuts and locks!

I bought this gate for the bottom of my stairs as I thought it would be more attractive than a metal one. However, even though it says it is suitable for pressure fitting I found you cannot get a good enough pressure to fit securely and it pushed my stair post sideways. It seems this gate is only able to reach the correct pressure when fitted between 2 walls defeating the purpose of a stair gate in my opinion.
