Tricky to fit but worth it., 23 May 2013

Needed a non-pressure fit stairgate to sit across a wide, angled opening at the bottom of my house's main staircase. This did the job perfectly.Don't be put off by the length and seeming complexity of the instructions (and all the plastic bits, most of which don't appear to even be mentioned in the fitting guide); this is a very, very clever design and allows the gate to fit a wide (no pun intended) range of gaps and has 2 different ways of being fitted, to account for being installed either at an angle or across a regular gap.Once fitted properly (and I ended up having to remove and re-fit it twice but that was more down to me not reading the instructions properly...I AM a man, after all), it's extremely sturdy, very light, and really easy to open and close. Even with the complex fitting, I still have to give this 5 stars.

We needed something to fit across the top of a stairway and all we had to mount it to were two offset posts which were unsuitable for location of a standard gate.This fit the bill perfectly by allowing diagonal installation across the opening.It feels very solid and well made and inspires confidence. Once fitted, I was able to shove it hard without any movement at all.What's more, it looks pleasant and unobtrusive in nicely finished beech. No burrs or sharp edges.Fitting was no hassle, only marginally more difficult than a standard gate. I had it assembled in 30 minutes. Instructions could be a little bit clearer but to anyone skilled enough to assemble an Ikea chest of drawers, this will present no problems.

Best stair gate you can buy, I looked at them all, I have a which! Account too and this comes recommended from their testing also.Only reason it's not 5 stars is that it's not that easy to put up (as other reviewers have mentioned), allow at least an hour.
