Be careful when fitting!, 11 Feb. 2009
I bought two of these - one for the top of the stairs and one for the bottom... They need to be fitted really carefully and securely as they tend to work themselves loose over time... Mine seem to work fine one minute and then a few days later they do not autoshut (which is a safety hazard) and on one occasion my son managed to open it and fell down two steps to the half landing! I have found they need to be tightened regularly to stay secure.

Well made product, sturdy and fit for purpose.Instructions lacking in clarity. Explanation needed for howgate functions. The fitting notes need to explain the phases of fitting more clearly so customer understandshow locking system works. Also relocating the gate is fiddly because it means starting from scratch again.Other gates I have used were easily transferable and did not require a complete refit.

The best non-permanent baby gate, 12 Feb. 2015
This is not the cheapest baby gate available but for the money this is probably the best you can get without drilling yoru wallsPros:- one handed operation; if like me you need to go through the gate whilst holding the baby/toddler then believe me you *need* one hand operation. 2 hand operation- auto-lock feature; this gate will autmatically lock itself when you shut the door, all thanks to its ingenious magnetic locking mechanism (to be clear the locking is with a metal bar, which is pulled into place via a magnet, the door is held shut by the metal bar, not the magnet)- narrow size: this particular model was a rare version that fits our tiny stairs in our house- good sturdy mounting points with anti-loosening feature. This gate will not come loose, no matter how hard your toddler shakes itcons:- the metal bar across the floor at the bottom is a little higher than other baby gates that I have used
