Miracle blanket, 22 Sept. 2010

I have never written a review of any product before - but this blanket has justified it's name and I had to come online and recommend it to people. My 6 week old son has a really strong startle reflex and was waking himself up regularly after us spending ages getting him to sleep. He was getting really upset and crying and crying so we resorted to having in bed with us to get any sleep at all. Last night we swaddled him in the miracle blanket for the first time and he slept from 10pm to 4am without stirring and then from 4.30am to 7am when we woke him. 8 hours sleep for mum - a miracle! I highly recommend this product - it seems to be working again tonight - so lets hope it continues to live up to it's 'miracle' billing!

Don't be put off by the fact that it's a bit like a straight-jacket - I'm assured they love being swaddled tightly, and my son seems very happy in it. I would recommend looking at the video of how to put it on properly - type 'miracle blanket' into google...

Perfect swaddle but sometimes a little warm, 15 July 2010

A friend recommended the miracle blanket to me so I bought one before my baby was born. I also bought a plain triangular swaddle and was given a swaddle with velcro from NCT. I have found that these other swaddles do not contain my baby and he can easily kick his way out. The miracle blanket has special pockets and flaps so that it's really easy to use. You put the baby's feet into a pocket, then you use a couple of flaps to hold its arms before using the main lengths of the swaddle. Miracle blanket's own website has a video of how to do it and I found it really easy.

I have found on many occasions that this blanket calms my baby and soothes him off to sleep. The blanket itself is made of thick cotton rather than being of a blanket material. However, I have found that in the heatwave we have been having lately that he can get too hot so you have to make sure that the baby is wearing clothing suitable for the temperature (I have had my baby in a nappy with the windows...

Not used this yet on an actual baby as they haven't been born yet but tried it out on a teddy bear and it seemed easy to use (though the teddy bear wasn't wriggling around!). Easy to follow diagram and plenty of material to wrap around snugly. Material is not too thick that the baby will get too warm
