Fantastic safety- if you have a compatible car, 21 July 2015

The Max Fix II car seat was developed to fulfil the legal requirements of the Scandanvian market and is now available in the UK. This car seat is rear wards facing only from birth up to an incredible 18kg which is approx 6 years (though may be less on longer depending on the height and/or weight of your child.)

Parents are constantly being told that the research undeniably states that rearward a facing for as long as possible is the safest option for children, yet the UK market has been slow to react.

As I found out at a recent Amazon Baby & Britax event, Britax have really done a good job here, but it sadly won't be suitable for a lot of typical British family cars.

The price seems steep but looking at traditional car seat grouping a child may have gone through a minimum of 2 and up to 4 car seats if put into a baby sleeper across the same weight span. In the same period a single car seat purchase works out far more cost effective over the lifetime of the...

Pleased so far - no recline issues here! Well done Britax!, 10 Jan. 2016

Excellent car seat. We researched extensively for a rear facing car seat up to 4 years that wasn't ridiculously priced! Whilst researching, the main issue that persistently cropped up with the rear facing car seat up to 4 years old, was the recline. We moved my daughter to this seat when she was 14 months ( therefore I cannot comment how the recline would work for a new born - it does come with a substantial, comfy looking insert and had I not already have a car seat, I certainly would have tried it - just obviously wont fit onto a chassis) and whist the recline isn't huge, we have had no problems at all with her head flopping forward, she seems very cosy and content. I would say the recline isn't far off my sons forward facing car seat. It is quite a large bit of kit (although at least you dont need a pricey isofix base!) so wouldnt recommend for a small car unless the driver/passenger is very short! I have a CMAX and my husband can sit in the passenger seat with reasonable comfort...

Feature packed safety that will last the test of time, 9 July 2015

Having had the opportunity to get hands on with the Max-Fix II at a recent event, it was great to be able to compare side by side - albeit without a child to lift in & out OR within the confines of a car. This did however let me focus on the real differences in size, usability, fabric, installation methods & the like.

Summary: The MaxFixII (MF2) is a birth to 4yrs ISOFIX fixing only seat & base. It's rearward only facing, with a 5 point harness & variable angle for sleep / sitting during journeys. Angle adjustment is via a slightly stiff rotating wheel / dial.

A removable & washable cover allows (no harness removal required) the seat to maintain its look & lifespan over the 4yr life - very much needed when you consider the use & abuse it will suffer. Worth noting though that spare covers are also available from Britax should something terminal happen.

In case you are wondering, the upside down U shaped bar is there to stop the seat rotating during an...
