Not for boys, 4 Aug. 2010

I got this for my 5 month old boy who we are doing elimination communication with. He's getting too heavy to hold out over the toilet so we needed a training seat that would support a smaller baby.

First the good points:

He loves using it and sits there giggling up at us.

It also holds him in the anatomically appropriate position with knees higher than bum so encourages him to 'go'.

It's made of soft foam so is very comfy.

It supports a smaller baby well so is good for EC.

It's easy to wipe down and doesn't take up too much room in the bathroom.

The bad points:

The cutaway in front doesn't come up high enough for boys. My little boy is only about 18lb but his little manhood is squashed at the front. It can't be comfortable but also it means that when he pees it somehow dribbles along the underside of the seat and drips on to the floor under the rim of the toilet seat. Fab alternative to a conventional potty!, 9 Jan. 2011

i love this toilet trainer - laugh as you will but my daughter who is only 5 months wont poo in her nappy and used to grunt and cry until i took it off and put her legs up in the air (i think she likes the freedom)...as she cant sit up i was unable to put her on a conventional a potty..yet she sits on this and finds it easy to relieve herself!! - she has now pooed for the last 5 days using this - with in seconds - i think the positioning encourages the movement ...i obviously have to hold her as she is small but it is very comfy and soft. I think it would be perfect for older babies starting their potty training at a normal age!!!

Shame about the design fault, 14 Oct. 2010

I bought this as my little one wanted to a softer toilet trainer seat. She took to it straight away and we were very happy with the seat, until about a month later, a split had developed and the split was progressing with each use. Have seen a few other reviews where there has been the same problem.
