Department of Health and other caring organisations have banned the use of these 'Safety Socket Covers', 21 Oct. 2016

These ‘safety socket covers’ are potentially dangerous. Sockets are designed to a British Safety Standard, BS1363. They have a shutter that stops insertion of foreign materials into the socket. These ‘safety socket covers’ bypass the safety shutter.

Members of the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) have been campaigning for ‘safety socket covers’ to be banned since 2009. FatallyFlawed have been doing a fantastic job of doing the same.

On the 30th June 2016 the Department of Health published an Alert as to the possible dangers of these ‘safety socket covers’ stating “13A electrical socket inserts should not be used in health or social care premises, nor supplied for use in a home or residence.” and “Any socket insert currently in use should be withdrawn and responsibly disposed of.”

On the 6th October 2016 the Department for Education (DfE) updated their policy and the Foundation Years website was also updated as to the possible dangers...

Not happy at all! These plug covers came with no UK or European safety marks or stamps!!?? ( not even on the packaging) so have no idea what they are made of or even safe to put into a plug socket! My 2yr old could use one finger to pull these out of the sockets so a total waste of money! As thrown them straight into the bin..
