I've always been a fan of these old fashioned toys. We bought a smaller one some years ago for our eldest son and was disappointed with the quality and durability.Our youngest (almost a year) was given one of these for Christmas and it is a delight! Very good quality, good size and gorgeous colours.Ours "hums" beautifully (or sings as our 4yr old says!) - you just have to get it to pick up some speed for it to start singing!Also the base that is is on is big enough to ensure it is stable whilst spinning.Lovely toy.

Really disappointed, 22 Jun. 2014

I don't normally write reviews, but I'm really disappointed with this item. The humming top looked great when it arrived, lovely bright colours and seemed to work well. It took my 16 month old twins a few months to get the hang of what to do to make it work themselves, up until recently it was just me demonstrating. They have only been pressing it themselves for the past few weeks (and not too roughly either) and it has already stopped working. The plunger just stopped connecting and no longer makes it spin. This is such a shame as they were only just beginning to really enjoy using it and there is no way it should be breaking that easily. Poor quality.

This is a lovely metal spinning top, which is bright and bold! Both my sons love this and whilst its safe for my 3 year old to do, the edges of the spinning top can feel quite sharp when spinning at high speeds!,Great fun though!
