This "urban" (i.e. small footprint) travel system by Chicco is designed for being squeezed in narrow hallways, shimmied into buses, and potentially acting as a trolley for all the things you don't have arms to carry. By and large, it's successful at what it sets out to do, and is reasonable at the pricepoint compared to something like a Bugaboo. Well constructed, easy to put down and up again, and flexible from birth to toddlerhood by reconfiguring the seat rather than having to plonk a separate bassinet on top, the more fashion conscious can also customize the colour panels with additional packs if you want it to match your car or something. On the downside, I've used other systems (like the Maxi-Cosi or Bugaboo) that are a bit more forgiving of rough terrain, but so long as you're mostly on pavement that's not a problem. It's also not quite as light as one might want for an urban buggy where you just might have to lug it up and down stairs on the tube - it's 10.5kg, add on...

I was very excited to get this stroller as I had tried it out in the shop and thought it was nice. However, I was sorely disappointed. There is nothing 'urban' about this bulky, heavy chair. I live in Brussels and take public transport in some form or another everyday. The Urban is very wide at the back wheels and this made fitting into a bus with other pushchairs difficult. The back wheels are so wide that I was unable to fit on the old style trams. The chair is quite heavy and difficult to carry up stairs if the lift happens to be broken. I would often meet other moms out in the city and I was always the one with the big bulky stroller that made it difficult to fit into a cafe. Also, living in the city means that supermarkets are smaller with more narrow isles and so I couldn't take the stroller for shopping...which was fine anyway because the basket, while a good size, is very difficult to access...almost impossible when the seat is unfolded into the pram mode. And to top it all...
