These over-ride the built in safety of UK sockets, 3 Aug. 2009
By putting these, or any other socket covers in your UK power sockets, you have over-ridden the safety features which make UK sockets already safe by design, and made your children less safe.UK sockets have a shutter which covers the live and neutral contacts until a plug is inserted. Socket covers provide your child with a tool to get around these safety features in a number of ways.Don't waste your money on these items - you don't need them at best. At worst you have provided your kids with a dangerous toy.A search for Fatally Flawed on the internet will take you to a site illustrating the problems with socket covers.

These compromise the in-built safety features of UK socket outlets, 23 Nov. 2012
These do not improve the safety of UK socket outlets. All UK sockets are required to incorporate built-in safety shutters and by inserting these and similar covers upside down they can be used to open most of these safety shutters, exposing live parts. They are not manufactured to any British standard and are generally regarded within the electrical industry as at best unnecessary and at worst potentially dangerous. Google "fatally flawed" for more information.

Do not reinsert any of these unsafe covers which you may have in use.

Socket Covers should NOT be inserted into sockets - they are dangerous!

British 13 Amp sockets have built in automatic shutters to protect against children poking things in.

First introduced 65 years ago, they are considered the safest in the world and do not require external covers.

No responsible national body recommends using socket covers.

(That includes the UK Government, RoSPA, Ofsted, Child Accident Prevention Trust and Electrical Safety Council.)

Sockets are made to accept plugs which meet very exact requirements.

Anything which is not made to the same dimensions as required for plugs may cause permanent damage.

No socket covers which meet the correct dimensions are available!

Socket covers introduce...
