Crabtree & Evelyn's Indian Sandalwood has been around a long time and has always polarised views. I can see why some people swear by it, and I can also understand why others really don't like it at all.
This is a warm, spicy, powerful aroma; although containing notes of lavender and touches of cypress, the sandalwood, as might be expected from the name, totally dominates. This is particularly obvious on first application when it can be extremely heavy; after a few minutes the initial spicy waves do begin to settle down and you can get to appreciate some of the subtleties of the sandalwood itself (it's not quite as simple as it might seem -this is actually how the wood itself behaves if you cut or sand a piece of it and see how the scent develops), while the background notes from the other ingredients start to make their own small contributions. It lasts a long while on the skin; borderline 'heavy', so a little goes a very long way indeed.
