Distinctive love or hate (but classic) scent, 6 Jun. 2015

Crabtree & Evelyn's Indian Sandalwood has been around a long time and has always polarised views. I can see why some people swear by it, and I can also understand why others really don't like it at all.

This is a warm, spicy, powerful aroma; although containing notes of lavender and touches of cypress, the sandalwood, as might be expected from the name, totally dominates. This is particularly obvious on first application when it can be extremely heavy; after a few minutes the initial spicy waves do begin to settle down and you can get to appreciate some of the subtleties of the sandalwood itself (it's not quite as simple as it might seem -this is actually how the wood itself behaves if you cut or sand a piece of it and see how the scent develops), while the background notes from the other ingredients start to make their own small contributions. It lasts a long while on the skin; borderline 'heavy', so a little goes a very long way indeed.

NOT AT ALL IMPRESSED! I have the aftershave lotion of this fragrance, also by Crabtree & Evelyn, and I have my suspicions that this may be a fake, and intend to clarify this with C&E. I would however suggest to potential buyers that they avoid this seller. I shall update this feedback once I have spoken the Crabtree and Evelyn, and have their comments on the matter. Meantime, might I suggest to you to try Taylor's of Old Bond Street for Sandalwood cologne! It is far superior to this rubbish, which came from Germany or somewhere, definitely NOT the UK. The only drawback with Taylor's is that it isn't a spray, but me, I don't really care as I have a cologne which lasts when you wear it.

If you love Sandalwood then this is for you!, 8 Sept. 2015

If you love Sandalwood (and I do) then this is the perfect fragrance, but if you like a more complex blended scent or something fresher or lighter then you will be disappointed. The distinctive Sandalwood scent really dominates this cologne.Unlike other reviewers I didn't find it weak, the scent lasted well throughout the day.I'm not a fan of the packaging or bottle, it's very simple almost cheap looking but I'm much more interested in how a cologne smells. On the plus side the spray mechanism works very well and the bottle is nice to handle.Overall, very pleased with my purchase.
