Got one of these with a knurled handle. Used Gillette (Sensor them Mach3) for 19 years, recently with KoS gel. Won't be using these again. Think I'd developed good technique with M3, able to go across or against after first passes. Decided to move to DE kit, slightly worried that I was just seduced by a glamour of masculinity. How wrong I was! Telling my story as, if this sounds like you, I want to say (a) don't hesitate just go for it and (b) GET A JAGGER (heads are all same, just choose the handle you like). Do research first, but I'll share mine here. Buy these: Jagger razor, Proraso soap and a decent brush (you can find pure badgers on Amazon for £10-15). I also bought Proraso pre-shave cream and Proraso cut-healing-gel, both of which make a big difference while you improve your technique. Shaving will never be the same again!!!, 5 Aug. 2014

I used to hate shaving, felt like such a chore and with the cartridges saving razor I always felt irritated having a sensitive skin but this works like magic. First time using a safety razor and I don't think I will be swapping anytime soon.Been researching for a while now and this came highly recommended and I can see why! No effort and it burned through the beard like a hot knife through butter. It does take a little time to get used to this, avoiding the bad (old) habits. No need to press too hard and let the weight of this magnificent razor do all the work.Read a couple of reviews that due to its, chrome finish, it slips etc. I can safely say that I completely disagree, if you are holding it the correct way, there is no change of this happening!Can't recommend this enough!

A Shiny Shave, 1 July 2014

I haven't had a shave with a decent old-fashioned wet razor foryears (I rarely use anything other than a plastic disposable one) sothis seemed like a good opportunity. My Dad never used anything else.This model by Sheffield company Edwin Jagger is a slick looking tool.I'm not sure what the base metal is but the chrome plate seems ofgood quality and is very shiny. The screw fitting is very smooth andthe two plates for holding the blade fit together very well. You'll needthe double-edged variety and do remember that the shave you'll getwill only be as good as the blades you use, so don'y buy cheap ones.The razor has a good weight and balances well in the hand during use.I Like It.
