The best selling point for this device over the Scholl or Emjoi is the sideways placement of the revolving head which, in my opinion, allows for more accurate targetting of problem areas.
The device has two speeds (I found setting number one adequate for even tough skin) and comes with eight attachable heads. The main ones you'll probably want though are the cylindrical files for battling the hardest of skin. These come in two different lengths each having a rough and smooth file - for that silky smooth finish.
The other heads include a nail file and a buffer.
It requires two AA batteries (included) which have so far lasted about an hour with no sign of running out yet.
In short, this is an excellent product, and far less work than using the old cheese grater-style paddles. It's actually quite a relaxing sensation and very gratifying to see all that hard skin being reduced to dust in a matter of minutes.
I enjoyed it so much, I've...

Elle Macpherson is the name on the box, but this pedicure aid is actually made by the always-excellent (and amusingly named) HoMedics. I'm a big fan of HoMedics. I have several of their products, all terrific and this is no exception. Basically, it's just a motor in a hand unit that drives a rotating wheel to which you fit a series of gizmos: a larger, coarser, pumice-type roller for removing dead skin, and a finer grained one for smoothing and polishing skin. There are also nail attachments to shape and polish nails and a slightly alarming attachment for dealing with recalcitrant cuticles, if that's your bag. There's a plastic guard thing too, apparently to stop you shedding dandruffy bits of foot all over the bathroom (it didn't. Whoa, the thing is messy! If you'll heed my warning, you'll do it in the bathroom where it's easier to clean up).
Pedicure is quite a nuisance when you have to do it yourself, all that leaning over on the bed or sitting on the loo, foot on the bath,...

First impressions of this, were very good: it's comfortable to hold, not too noisy and really easy to operate. The unit comes with 8 little attachments (very quick to change between them) and batteries are included in the box, so you have everything you need to get started right away. The manual is good as it explains quickly what all the attachments are for, how to use them and on which setting.
What I'm disappointed about, is the overall effectiveness. You get 4 attachments which are abrasive (like emery boards), so they are supposed to be for removing and buffing dry skin. The problem is, it's not very good at doing this. The abrasive action is just not abrasive enough. I recently started using a micro-pedi system by Emjoi (
and the results with that were really...
