The insert is obviously necessary for an infant, but I'm not very happy carrying our baby in it, as his face is hidden low at my chest and I can't check on him. It seems he likes it (always falls asleep, leaving me wondering if he is still breathing) as does his dad - and I suppose its a good solution if you have an Ergo.Besides the material seems nice and breathable (but we haven't tried it out in really hot weather).

I ended up buying a second sling so I could carry her around and it's been brilliant (caboo bolster sling), 17 Oct. 2014
This is essential for using your ergobaby with a newborn but it is so thick that we were both sweating a lot which I really worried about. I stopped using it after 2 used. We will wait to use the ergo until she is bit enough not to need the insert. I ended up buying a second sling so I could carry her around and it's been brilliant (caboo bolster sling).
