Cute and colourful but one design flaw, 4 Feb. 2015

There is one design flaw with this cute and colourful owl and I'll get this negative out of the way first. As other reviewers have pointed out there needs to be a bit more padding around the battery/music/light pack inside the owl as at present I agree that there isn't enough. That being said a newborn would not immediately be swinging the owl around but I would say that until the padding 'issue' is sorted that this would probably be suitable for 6 months plus rather than from birth unless used with adult supervision.

My baby daughter loves this owl and it has been a hit straight out of the box. I disagree with other reviewers who have said that there has to be quite a bit of force to turn the owl on as there honestly doesn't and my daughter manages to turn the owl on quite easily by herself. It would be nice if there was a volume control as it is a little loud if right up next to your little ones ear and especially with them having far superior hearing to adults but I...

My two year old has not put this down since it arrived and when she does, I soon hear a little cry of 'owl' - which is unfortunate as it tends to sound like 'ow!' cue cross-purposed conversation about what is wrong!Anyhooo (sorry!)....whilst she loves it - I think it's suitability as a baby toy is questionable. For one thing, it is not at all soft and huggy. The music mechanism is almost as big as the toy and very hard. A bit more padding would have helped with this.Secondly, the music is not very calming. With the exception of Twinkle, Twinkle and Pachobel's Canon in D some of it is downright rousing. Such a shame , as I know from our Fisher Price jungle gym and rocking chair that they do a range of relaxing, soothing music/sounds.Then there's the volume loud or loud.Sorry Fisher Price - you usually hit the mark but not so much with this.

Soft and sweet toy, with some nice sounds, 16 Mar. 2015

This toy has a variety of textures and colours which go nicely together and give a great overall appearance- a soft head and ears, a stripey knitted torso and yellow plastic feet. On the stomach of the owl is a light up yellow section, which is where the touch-activated pad is to turn on the sounds. The downside is that the battery pack can be felt through the toy, unfortunately, and whilst it is safe enough, I agree with other reviews which state it would be better with extra padding.

This toy can be machine washed, if you take out the electronics, which is obviously great with young children. It makes a nice toy for general daytime use, although I perhaps would not leave it unattended in cot with baby, as the touch pad is fairly sensitive and might be set off by sleeping baby and risk waking them. The sound is a nice level, easy to hear but not too loud. The mix of tunes is nice too, with some very soothing and all fairly sweet and soft. There are some well known jingles...
