The shave was pretty nice and close, 11 Feb. 2016

Slightly disappointing. I've tried all the Venus heads with the scented balm and always find the balm dries my skin out and makes more mess than anything. This one really isn't different. The smell is lovely but you don't actually notice it all that much once you're shaving, and once the hot water hits the balm, it starts to melt away horrendously fast, so if you don't shave in anything but cold water, I'd say steer clear of this one.The shave was pretty nice and close, but my legs look quite dried out unfortunately. Perhaps this is personal experience, I don't know, but none of them seem to work for me.Not to mention, the balm melts and disappears so fast you'd be lucky to get about two or three shaves out of it before it needs replacing. Not very cost effective in the long run.

Overpriced and yes a little gimmicky, 12 Feb. 2016

Having used Gillette Venus for many years I was intrigued to see that their latest incarnation had a flexible handle for the not so smooth areas (knees etc)Whilst I would give the handle 5 stars (I was sent one handle and one blade refill for review purposes) I would only give the blades 3 stars - the serum is great the first time you use the razor but if, like me, you will use the same blade more than once, you'll find that the water activated moisture serum is not as effective on the second use. Add to that the fact that these blades are the most expensive of the bunch, I will be keeping the handle but using it with the Gillette Venus Divine 8 Razor Blades blades which I have on Subscribe & Save.

Gilette Venus Swirl Razor Blades, 13 Feb. 2016

These blades reminded me of the Olay Infused ones, but with gel strips where the Olay soap bars were. The first time I used a blade (which I managed to attach to an old Venus handle of mine) I was initially impressed, especially the way that the sprung blades managed to successfully surf my skin's curves; but conversely, the five separate slim blades didn't relinquish their cache of hair easily, even when rinsed under a heavy flow. I made the mistake of leaving the razor face down on the side of the bath afterwards and when I lifted it to clean under it half an hour later, well, the gel strips caused it to adhere to the plastic. Hmm.

So - what do I think? Well, my normal response is that, in general, replacement razor blades are hugely overpriced for what they are. I don't really see the point of mounting gel strips on the razor heads as the majority of women use a shaving gel anyway or de-fuzz their pins whilst soaking in the bath. So, no - not really for me.
