I was dreading the simple act of going to Sainsburys after last week's Homesense adventure that resulted in toddler tantruming because I wouldn't let her run amok; high pitched screaming, bucking and kicking as I duly informed my daughter that she was taking all the fun out of shopping and swiftly removed her from the shop. What became apparent was that we needed reigns. And I have to say that the monkey backpack with a tail that acts like a dog's lead was expensive but worth it. It's so cute and rests on her back with it's arms over her shoulders as if it's giving her a cuddle. Childless people looked at me oddly and with a hint of disgust whilst people with children grinned and said "Aw! Bless!". The first half of the visit went well, she wandered along next to me also holding the monkey's tail. Halfway through she started tug of warring me, trying to pull it out of my hands so she could run off. And by the end she went into meltdown completely as I was trying to scan my...

This harness has been a fantastic buy for my 16 month old son. He was not a fan of the conventional reins and I found they were not really for me as he could not move more than a few steps away from me.
The monkey is approx. 32cm long. The adjustable straps are easy to use and do not slide/move when adjusted. The monkey's tail is the rein and clips onto the money for easy removal. The tail is approx. 92cm and has a wrist loop at the end. I find the tail gives my son room to explore whilst keeping him safe and in reach. There is a pocket as advertised located on the monkey's back. I have found this isn't too useful as it's quite small and narrow. To give you a idea of size, it holds my iPhone 5 with a tiny bit of space remaining.
It goes without saying, these reins have the cute factor! I am always stopped to be told how adorable they look. I would recommend they are purchased for children who are confident on their feet. If the child does have a trip, you cannot...

I bought this harness at the request of my brother for his young son, who has just started to toddle.
the general comfort and lovely soft feel of the reigns when on is clear to see with my nephew, as he regularly enjoys trying to stroke the arms or head of the chimp!.
there is also a small compartment that can store a sun hat or cardigan for the little champ, which is always easy to hand, the price paid (18.00) i didn't feel was too excessive given the novelty factor on top of function.
now onto the negatives.
The only constructive criticism that i can aim at the harness is that it really isn't designed for babies that have just begun to walk/toddle, as the 'reigns' are actually the tail of the chimp. again whilst I'm all for this and it adds to the general likeability of the harness, what it doesn't do, is allow you to stop a child in the reigns from falling over, as pulling upwards on the reign/tail will only aid in making your poor child to twist...
