Rather Incomplete!, 17 Dec. 2015

The parcel arrived in 3 chunky, heavy boxes taped together to create one. The three boxes were opened and all the parts laid out ready for construction, and the guide followed to the letter. That is until parts started to be mentioned which were nowhere to be found. The effort was continued until it was evident that the contents of at least one box was for a different product entirely.I have constructed the bed/recliner as far as I possibly can and it seems of good quality and sturdy, and has a nice powder coated finish. It was relatively easy to assemble with the allen keys provided. In terms of value for money, it's hard to comment as it is incomplete, however I would be concerned about the gap between bolster and mattress for a child younger than 7 or 8 due to the risk element. Attached are a few photos of the construction instructions and what I have been able to build.

Good for older kids and teens, 18 Jan. 2016

This came in three bulky boxes which I would advise two people to carry, especially going if the bedroom this is going in is upstairs. The instructions were reminiscent of the flatpack furniture instructions that come with Ikea furniture, so if you have difficulty following those, you will want to take extra care. One thing that the instructions did not bring up is as you screw it together, you should not tighten the screws up much until you have the very last screw/bolt in place as otherwise, you'll have to go back and loosen them in order to successfully put the pieces in place. Once assembled, the bed itself is quite good, with only a couple of niggles. The first niggle is that the mattress itself sits quite low so the top of the mattress leaves quite a gap between it and the bottom of the back rest bolsters. We didn't use a thin mattress, this was a well sprung, quilted top mattress. I imagine if we had used a "bargain" mattress, the gap would be even larger. I mention...

First off, the packaging on this was woeful.

It arrived as '1 parcel' but was in fact 3 separate parcels that were taped together with reams of brown tape. As the delivery driver explained 'They've done it like that so they only have to pay for 1 parcel instead of 3'. That wouldn't have been an issue if all three parcels were similar dimensions but the reason there were 3 parcels is because they were all widely different shapes and sizes so it made moving it very difficult especially as it was quite heavy. Additionally there was very little protective packaging so there were a few little bumps which I don't blame the delivery firm for at all.

As you can imagine from the description of the packaging this is a self assembly job, even though nowhere in the product description does it say this.
