This handy little hand held device remotely measures surface temperatures without having to touch the item being measured. The main intended purpose it to measure a person’s body temperature, however can be used for food, cooking and other surfaces too.
Design, Buttons and Build Quality

The built quality is quite robust, a sealed orange light grey unit that can easily withstand being dropped onto a hard floor.
There is a trigger button which you simply pull (like on a gun) to take a measurement. On the back there is an illuminated LCD panel which provides a large print reading. There are buttons to change the mode and others to cycle through reading memories.

My 2.5 year old lad hates having his temperature taken with a ‘normal’ thermometer. He wriggles about, spits it out or won’t have it under his arm; even forehead thermometers are swiftly removed and thrown on the floor. I’m sure that this is a familiar tale of woe for most parents but those days are all behind me as I now have the Hylogy (a brand name of Aukey) Digital Non Contact Thermometer to take his temperature without him even knowing that I’m doing it! I wish I’d got one of these years ago, and I definitely wish they’d been around when my other children were growing up. It’s so quick to give a temperature reading (0.5s) and it appears to be very accurate, so I’m extremely pleased with my purchase.

For about the last 45 years my medicine cabinet has housed a good old-fashioned mercury-in-glass body temperature thermometer. Seeing these have been banned in medical institutions for goodness knows how long because of the toxic effects of mercury I jumped at the chance of reviewing this new state of the art device.
Provided by Aukey the Hylogy MD-H6 looks like a small pistol and is used in much the same way. You point the thermometer at the person whose temperature you are taking, press the trigger and up it pops on the LCD display.
Of course there's a little more technology under the bonnet than that.
At the rear of the device is a 25mm square LCD display window under which is a button marked 'mode'.
