Ok so this isn't entirely necessary, you can still fit the car seat without it, but it makes it so easy, and we have now purchased one for the other car. They seem to have good second hand resale value too, so although only useful for the first year, it will avoid faffing about in the rain with a screaming baby trying to get the car seat in - that's got to be worth it!
