The best things come in small packages., 5 July 2017

This really is an amazing little thermometer - gone are the days where you're sticking a thermometer into a screaming child's ear!! This great little gadget can measure a child's temperature 3cm's from their forehead which makes it perfect for wriggly babies, unco-operative children and sleeping ones too!

I'd be sceptical and wonder if something that didn't make contact with the child could indeed take an accurate reading but knowing this is the only one that is certified by St Johns Ambulance means it has my full confidence and also I personally wouldn't consider another brand knowing this.

We compared the temperature readings to our existing thermometer and it is accurate and makes our life a lot easier now having something that can not only ready body temperature but also bath water and food temperatures without having to make contact due to the infrared sensor.

I don't know how it does it but its very clever and it's a fantastic, versatile, small and portable...

Simple and accurate..., 21 July 2017

This is a really useful alternative to either sticking something in your child's ear or trying to get a reading using a contact thermometer (the ones that look like phasers out of Star Trek). I was skeptical about how accurate this would be compared to an ear or contact thermometer, so as I have one that does both functions I compared this Kinetik thermometer against that. Admittedly I didn't have a fractious and poorly child to test this on both our toddler and grandson were compliant with the procedure. The result was that both thermometers measured a similar temperature (within 0.1 degree) with the Kinetik consistently measuring slightly lower than the ear/contact version. It's as simple as 'point and click' and quick. The thermometer display is easy to read and back-lit. You can also use it to measure the temperature of bath water, milk, etc., which gives it a useful secondary function to just taking a temperature.
