Not exactly what I would call "solid wood."The top is "plywood" and rather thin and flexible.The "solid wood" parts have lots of resin "filler" filling in gaps/holes from the cheap wood used.Overall though it is OK for the price.I am happy with it, but it might be best described as "wood based."

This tray is fairly well constructed, very lightweight and good value. Don't expect this to last forever, though, as the lightweight materials don't look ultra-durable.
