Bought for introducing our adopted child to us before she met us, this was recommended by our social worker, but I can see that this would be a great toy for any baby.
The photo areas are very small and it was hard to find photos small enough, and I wonder how much our baby daughter really looked at the photos or recognised us when finally meeting us because of their size
However the sound quality is good, it was easy to record although not sure why but we kept losing the first word of our recording (probably user error!), she really enjoyed playing with it at the foster carers and found it very engaging, it's the perfect size for little hands and light and easy to lift the flaps.
The colours are nice and bright. Now that she is home, she still enjoys playing with it, her face lights up.
In the first week, one of the discs which held in the photo and plastic cover fell off and into the toy box, it had been pushed in securely but it didn't take much for...

This is nice size butterfly. The central part is about my palm length and is like a skipping rope handle but very heavy as it contains the voice recording device. The speaker holes are at the back of the butterfly. The sound recordings are very loud/amplified but you can whisper and still be heard which I recommend! The speaker holes are at the back of the butterfly's head so they shouldn't normally be right up to your baby's ears.
I would only leave this around in a room where no older siblings or children were present as it's like the worlds heaviest Frisbee in design. Otherwise fine for 6 month plus.
Mine is faulty. I can only get 3 recordings as the left side wings record the same message no matter which of the 2 flaps you raise. It's not that we've pulled the wing flaps too far back or anything like that but the temperamental natural of the recording already doesn't inspire me that it'll have much longevity.
To record you simply have to to depress and push the...

This is a really neat idea, and well executed. Our baby has been suitably entertained by it, that’s for sure.
The sound quality of the recordings is OK- it’s not particularly hi-fi, but it is clear enough for a baby to recognise the noises, so long as you speak clearly. You get about 8 seconds per recording which should be more than enough for most phrases.
It takes a little bit of a knack to flick it into record mode, but we’ve already discovered that to be useful, as it stops our three-year-old from wantonly recording and re-recording the messages. When the toy first arrived, it was our three-year-old who grabbed it and decided it was for her, not our baby… it took a little while to set that right!
Sometimes I can be critical of Lamaze products as I find their colour schemes garish and their character designs a bit ugly. Neither of those problems here though- I rather like the look of this, it’s cheery but not...
