Amazonas Smartrope is available in Nursery
The Smartrope is a weatherproof, adjustable rope with carabiner hooks for easy hanging. For a hammock two are needed, for a hanging chair one smartrope is required.

These ropes are not cheap (and for a hammock you will need two) but they make the process of slinging a hammock very easy. The picture makes the rope look thin, but its actually about 1/4" in diameter, and plenty strong enough.
I bought one of those "hammocks for more than one person" (not if one of them is me, it's just the right size for me on my own), and a couple of Amazonas Smartropes at the same time (note that you can add one rope to your basket and change the quantity to "2" on the shopping basket page: that may be cheaper than choosing the two-rope bundle on the product page).
The ropes are very easy to use. The consist of a small loop of rope at one end and a metal carabiner-style clip at the other. Just loop the rope round your tree or post, pop the carabiner through the rope loop and adjuet the length using the triangular metal slider thing.
