Just Fantastic!, 10 Sept. 2014

This 20cm high little toy is lots of fun and has loads of features for the price. He's quite cuddly and the right size for the age he is designed for - 6 months to 3 year, with lots of clever touches. I love the fact that they've thought about the fact that you might want to program him whilst in the box, ready for a Christmas day or birthday. This I managed to do on my second attempt - you have to register on the website and add your child's name, an item of food they like from a list and their favourite colour. This worked seamlessly when the headphone jack that does this operation was plugged into my iPhone but failed to work with my laptop - I'm blaming Windows 8.

When you switch the toy on via his paw, your child is greeted with their name, which caused lots of giggles with my little tester - the name also comes into a couple of the songs. The voice is British English which means it's not too grating and the loudspeaker has two levels, always a good touch...

Cuddly and fun, 11 Sept. 2014

My daughter already owns the Violet one that reads books etc so when I saw this I was already pretty sure that this was going to be another great product from Leap Frog.Scout is very cute and most definitely cuddly, I imagine pretty much all kids in the correct age range will love this.It plays fun and soothing music and it is so easy to set up the extra features etc via the PC.My daughter is fascinated when these toys say her name lol :-)This isn't just a fun toy, it is educational, each paw does something different.It's great value for money and great for small children, as Christmas is approaching I would recommend this as a present as I don't think many children would NOT like this.

Not good for unusual names!, 17 Dec. 2014

If you were hoping to be able to personalise because of the fact your child has a unique/unusual name then don't bother. The list of names they have to choose from is very limited. Eveny child's name coming from a baby name book (so its a real name) isn't there. The fact its also a headphone jack attachment also means you can't even try and customise it yourself (if you wanted to try it) I've read others have tried requesting their child's name from Leapfrog but with no response.You can use a nickname as an alternative (eg little monkey/princess) but you can use that in conjunction with it spelling the child's name it has to be one or the other (which is also very annoying)Other than that he is quite cute and I'm sure my son will enjoy him for Christmas but I definitely wouldn't pay full RRP for him because of not being able to say my child's name (despite the marketing towards it)
