Let down by the extensions, 11 Feb. 2013

The gate itself is great - we bought it as a dog gate and it works well. It is sturdy and relatively easy to open. We were not sure how well it would stay in position (with it being pressure-fitting) but it has been in place for about 6 weeks now and seems to be doing well.

However, we had to buy an extension (to make the gate fit into our doorway) and this was a nightmare! The instructions showed someone easily sliding a piece of plastic out of the original gate, so that the extension could slot into the hole - but we could not get the piece of plastic out! We ended up damaging the gate trying to get the plastic out, so we returned it. The replacement gate arrived - and we had exactly the same problem! We couldn't believe it! We phoned the Lindam customer services who said that if we could get the plastic out in anyway possible, then she would send us a replacement part for free (as we needed the plastic piece in tact to fit the extenstion correctly). looks good, fits our wide doors and does the job.We have it to control access from the living room to the rest of the house for our 2 year old and the puppy. Our 6 and 4 year olds can open it (though it took the 4 year old a while to get to grips with it) which works fine for us.
