A Must-Have for Us, 18 May 2013

We really planned on exclusively breastfeeding when our daughter was born, but circumstances beyond our control made that impossible. We had a few bottles, one each of AVENT, Born-Free, Dr. Brown and MAM, all anti-colic, and we decided to give them all a shot. I honestly assumed we would like Dr. Brown's best, due to reviews. Our baby, however, instantly showed a strong preference for the MAM teets. The MAM bottle was also especially convenient because of the ability to be sterilized alone in the microwave. We tried doing a stove top sterilization with the others. Eventually, we decided it was just not worth it and bought a few more MAM anti-colic bottles. We considered getting an electric sterilizer, but the last thing we needed was another plug-in kitchen gadget, taking up counter space. Then, we saw this set on Amazon. its good because you dont have to assemble any of the bottles you just stick everything in it and away you go, you can also use it as a drainer. The only thing I have an issue with is that even when you fill it to the line with water before sterilising, water remains in it after sterilisation and the bottles stay damp or wet, if you open it to air dry the bottles wont stay sterile for 24hrs.You can do without it because 4 MAM bottles of the 260ml can be sterilised in the microwave anyway for 6 mins, this takes 7mins for the same number of bottles. So really its being used as a storage box for bottles or for when you feel too lazy to asssemble the bottle pieces before sterilising as per normal MAM bottle sterile procedure.

When I was a new parent, many years ago, I remember how troublesome it was to sterilise bottles, etc. Now that the next generation is about to produce their next generation I am pleased to be able to spare the prospective parents that same hassle.Using this steriliser, particularly with the two tier levels, it is now much more convenient to put all the items together in the microwave. One of the greatest benefits is the speed with which it sterilises.I also like the additional features including the access to the bottom of the bottles which when filled with water would heat the milk gently in the microwave.This is a quality product, quick to use, light but seems very durable with simple neutral colours, and is reasonably priced. A really good starter set.
