Lightweight, easy to open, just one seated position., 11 May 2015

We bought the Volo over a year ago for those times when we need to transport our grandchildren out of the car and for short distances like shopping trips. We were looking for a lightweight buggy, easy to push, easy to open/close and one that would fit into the boot of a small car. I'm happy to say the Volo fitted the brief;

Opening - release the large storage clip to the side, open the handles out, push the brake down until you hear a loud click.

Closing - step on the brake, close the handles, fasten the storage clip.

Inside the buggy is a safety seat harness which uses a central clasp to secure the adjustable shoulder and waist straps. They fit well but; the central locking clasp on our Volo was so tight at first we struggled to open it. After a while it became more flexible but is still stiff.

The hood is a large size, easy to attach/detach and remains firmly fixed with good tension because it locks into position. The hood offers absolutely no...

Mesh seat, good for hot weather. But too expensive for what you get., 15 April 2015

Maclaren is so well know and you can't do the school run with out seeing loads of Maclaren strollers. Maclaren have a reputation of being the sturdiest strollers on the market.

So I had a lot of expectations from this stroller. But for the money, (around £100) I expected more. The wheels and break mechanism are the same as the very cheap prams you can buy for £35. The wheels are small so it's not the smoothest ride. The breaks are the basic red push/lift button type. There is no recline or leg rest, so this stroller is not ideal if little one wants a snooze. The hood is basic. Standard umbrella fold, which would be possible to do pne handed. The seat is made of a mesh which would be good for really hot weather, but there is no form to the seat so bubba will just sink into the seat. This stroller comes with the usual Maclaren round buckle harness, which is functional. Also included is a shoulder strap which I have come to expect from Maclaren strollers.

The only reason I have...

Perfect buggy for holidays and emergencies, 14 April 2015

The Maclaren Volo buggy is my favourite little stroller of all time. I have had every model of this since it was launched with all 3 of my children. The latest incarnation is just as perfect. It's a typical umbrella fold buggy and super light. It also comes with a strap so you can fling it over your shoulder. The wheels are tiny but don't let this put you off, it still manoeuvres excellently and is great for city strolling. The brakes are sufficient and have been updated to an easy foot press design above the rear wheels. It has a rubber non adjustable foot rest which is just over the front wheels. This buggy is much better suited to an older toddler and is great for a 2 or 3 year old bridging the gap between walking age but tires easily. I think it's suitable from 6 months for a sitting baby but it's not going to be comfortable for long periods of time. The seat is not padded and does not recline and is made from mesh. It's ideal for holidays, school runs and quick shopping trips...
