Comfortable, practical sling, 1 Mar. 2016

I bow to the superior knowledge of my wife on this one, not exactly being an expert on the subject, so she wrote the following review after trying the sling out.

This sling is a joy to use. It is simple to fit and so easy to adjust. I used a pouch type sling with a waist belt and buckles with my babies but now, as a granny, I find this much easier to use. The fabric is strong but soft and my grandson snuggled in immediately while I was able to pull it to fit single handed. It felt safe and secure to use and meant I could soothe and cuddle the baby while still playing with the older toddler. It made it easy to do the boring chores and then to walk to the park with him tucked in warm and safe. This was a discounted reviewer’s sample for evaluation, so we tried it out in various situations - the sling is roomy enough to take him through to toddler size or until I can no longer carry him. There was no shoulder strain or back ache which I have had with another...

This was bought as a gift for friends who recently became parents. It arrived in a smart plastic display box and was much less bulky than I'd expected it to be.Suffice to say the recipients are delighted. They hadn't considered getting a sling - too busy buying everything else you need for a new arrival! - but really liked this one. It is brightly coloured without being garish and suitable for a boy or a girl. They also liked the fact that it could be used for quite some time, not just the first few months of their little son's life.It's too soon to say if the sling lives up to all the claims about whether 'wearing' the baby in a sling results in less crying, better brain development (few years away from being able to test that theory!) and more sense of trust and security from the baby, but I gather it meets the claims of 'ideal for breastfeeding' and 'eases the strain on the parent's back'.All in all, a success - and a present I'd give again.
