I love that the opposite numbers (6+12, 12 July 2015
I love that the opposite numbers (6+12, 3+9, 2+8, 4+10) are in the same colour. I think this helps a child when learning to tell the time. But I think that the minutes should be on the outside rather than the inside. A minute-hand which covers up a few measurements of minutes at the same time, makes it difficult for a child to understand what they're supposed to be looking at because the 'minutes' aren't actually being pointed to. what I'm saying is the minutes hand is pointing to the hour and that hour hand is pointing to the minutes more clearly, this will confuse a child. It would be easier on a child if the hour hand was as long as that minute hand, i.e. only pointing to the hour. and the minute hand was longer to reach across the hour shapes to only point to minutes in an outer ring.

A wonderful educational toy!, 25 Jun. 2014
Getting kids these days to learn something new involves a tablet or a smartphone. I suspect that's technology for you but at the same time some toy manufacturers make dreadful, uninspiring toys which are overpriced and attract the attention span of a few seconds. The Melissa & Doug shape sorting clock demonstrates how to make an engaging toy whilst teaching kids are telling the time. Our two year old nephew isn't sure about time but loves putting in the shaped numerical pieces. Our five year old nephew loves it - he keeps going back to it (and this is child spoiled by his parents through iPad). Great educational toy which is well built and doesn't cost the earth.

A toy who's time has not yet passed, 27 July 2014
Wooden block shape-sorting toys are a tried and tested favourite for toddlers, so this is a safe purchase. It involves colours, shapes and numbers and, for older children, telling the time. I'm unsure how relevant a traditional clock face, with hour and minute hand, is for this upcoming generation, but I suppose the digital age has not yet made such a thing completely obsolete. The toy is well made and can be recommended. It's kept the granddaughter quiet for a while, anyway.
