Seems excessive for the lack of functionality, very expensive way to check breathing and positioning from within the same room!, 3 Jun. 2016

I've been testing this with my newborn and as a second time parent I'm not that impressed and actually think this would cause more concern especially to nervous first time parents than relief. Parents thinking to buy need to consider their intended lifestyle with the baby and what they want from the device as some situations will be more suitable than others.

It Seems excessive panic parenting to someone who is quite nervous anyway! It doesn't really give you much benefit other than yes they are breathing and whether they are on their back if not. There are other products on the market that can detect breathing, this is less intrusive than some of the other mote portable ones and can connect to a smart device which stands it apart from some other products but in reality you could spend this kind of money far better elsewhere.

To be honest if you were that worried about if they are on their back you'd be better off investing your money in a decent video monitor than this and...

MonBaby smart baby monitor - Does what it sets out to, 3 Jun. 2016

This is very different to monitors I have used in the past, in that instead of transmitting the sounds (or even a video) of the baby the monitor simply detects if the baby is breathing regularly and if it is sleeping on it's front.

About the size od a 50 p coin, it clips onto the baby's clothing. It is small and unobtrusive.

You need to install the free app onto your smartphone, this was relatively easy to do. It then connects to your smart phone via a Bluetooth connection. And this is the major flaw - you need to be in the same room as the baby for it to work, as the Bluetooth range is very limited (about 10 m, and not through walls). Once set up you get alerts on your phone that sound clearly if there is any problem.

It does what it says it does very well. It would be most useful at night, where the baby is in the same room as the parents, and an alert would wake the sleeping parents to a problem with the baby. For those looking for a monitor to...

MonBaby is a very smart baby monitor making use of mobile phone Bluetooth technology but mustn't be confused with normal baby monitors. As other reviewers have said this does not replace the need for a baby monitor. The MonBaby is more in line with an Angelcare monitor although still not sophisticated enough to give sufficient reassurance so it sort of sits in the middle (hence only 3 stars). As I am reviewing this monitor it came to me a bit late when my baby was 3 months but I could see a real genuine use for this from newborn. It comes ready to play straight out of the box (lovely packaging) with good paper instructions, batteries (including a spare) and a mini screwdriver. You insert the battery yourself before first use. You need to download the free app on your phone or tablet. I had no problems with this on my Android Google Nexus 5.
