Henna, the crushed leaf of the Lawsonia inermis plant, has been used since the Bronze Age for dying and conditioning the hair. Hand cultivated in the terraced gardens along the Drâa river valley, the henna grown at the sacred Rissani oasis in Morocco is famed for its high dye content and reduced dying times for hair. Grey hair becomes fiery-red and dark hair shines with red highlights. In dyeing the hair, henna imparts a deep metallic sheen and creates a range of tones from a fiery red-orange on gray hair to red highlights on black hair. This henna fades very little, retaining its rich colour longer than Indian henna. However many women henna their hair on a monthly basis, or more frequently to cover grey hairs. On the skin and nails, henna leaves an orange-brown colour which endures for about three weeks, so do wear gloves when applying it to the hair! Quantities needed for dying the hair, depending on hair thickness and usage. 100g short hair, 200g collar length hair, 300g shoulder length hair, 500g waist length hair.

This is really good quality Henna powder. I have about shoulder lenght hair so I use 200g to colour it once a month. It is a bit pricy then (especially converted to euro) compared to if I used the chemical colour. Also as I had my hair dyed blond before so the colour is really bright orange but when they all grow out I hope it will be nice auburn. I have to mention that i used Henna in the past but one with sodium picramante added to it and the dfference is that 100% pure henna does not stain so much your skin and clothes, even towels stay clean after first wash, which I couldn't say about henna with the additive so in case you want to use the latter bring your own towel when staying somewhere as a guest:-)!

I mixed the powder with hot water, lemon juice and some olive oil, applied stright away for about 3 hours.

Lovely 'living' colour!, 2 Jan. 2013
This is excellent quality henna which gives a wonderful depth of shade and lustre to the hair. It may seem pricey compared to Egyptian henna, but this Moroccan henna does give a much stronger colour. After shampooing, I just add boiling water to the henna and apply it to wet hair once the mixture cools a bit. Then I wrap cotton wool around my hairline and clip on a plastic bag over the top to keep it warm. I got great results in 1/2 hour - so much nicer than chemical dyes!

A little goes a long way!, 27 May 2013
Prompt delivery with personalised packaging and the henna itself worked well.Will definitely order some more, even though you only needed half the amount suggested if you have fine hair, and it took 'a while' to rise out.:D
