The handle is made of tough and lightweight chrome effect ABS thermoplastic and the long bristle length provides excellent latherability, especially with soaps. The handle is a substantial 68mm so provides plenty of grip. A fantastic shaving brush for not a lot of money! This is the second Omega 48 I buy, having lost my first in a trip abroad. I have now been shaving for 30+ years, and this is the best brush model I have owned. I can easily see why in Italy it is by far the most used professionally. Just, it needs to be soaked for a minute or two before lathering. I use a bowl, and it definitely work best with soap.

Having been very disappointed by a shaving brush purchased from the local chemist which shed almost all its bristles in annoying tufts within 10 days, I looked on-line and purchased this impressive Italian job at a very reasomable price. At first it seemed somewhat OTT with its large size and flashy chrome handle but, having used it for more than a month, I have become increasingly impressed by its quality. I have grown accustomed to its size, it has lost no bristles and does the job well. I have no hesitation in recommending it.

Brilliant brush, the best I've had in over 50 years of wet shaving.I've had the brush for a month now (Dec 29), and use it daily, it has softened up a treat, and has only lost a couple of bristles as far as I can see (in the washbasin)I use the Real Shaving Co. Traditional Shave Cream, and a two blade system razor, and get a wonderful clean shave.Over the years I have tried both cheap and expensive shaving brushes, and stick with my original comment that this is the best brush I have ever had.
