Soft and subtle, but juts out of the socket a bit too far., 8 July 2014

A very soft, subtle nightlight. It won't replace an actual lamp, but it will give just enough illumination in a bedroom so that a child can see the outlines of furniture and the lack of monsters and ghosts.

Personally I would've liked it to be a little bit keener to switch on- the light seems to wait for it to get properly dark before switching itself on, whereas for our use it might've been handier if it switched on at a slightly higher light level and stayed on during dusk, just to contribute to bedtime lighting during the Summer.

Also, compared to another nightlight we've got, this light sticks out quite a long way from the wall (have a look at the green image on the Amazon product page and you may see what I mean). There is the equivalent of a small laptop-power-adapter sized block inbetween the plug and the light, which is something that other nightlights don't have. This means that if you put the light in a narrow corridor, there is more of a chance you or...

Power consumption only 0.7 watts. Or is it 8.4 watts?, 29 Jun. 2014

The product description on Amazon misses out what I think is the most important thing about a product like this - how much energy does it use? I went to the manufacturer's website and it's not information they give away easily.

Fortunately on the packaging - which is wrap rage packaging and you definintely need a pair of scissors to open it - the inset piece of card says two figures - in big writing it says that the light source is 0.7 watts and in smaller writing it says 8.4 watts. I'm guessing that the whole device uses 8.4 watts so while it's not in use you might as well switch it off, despite the fact that it turns on and off automatically based on ambient light levels.

If anyone can infer from the power consumption figures that it's not worth turning it off when not in use please add a comment.

In terms of the light that it emits, it's entirely adequate as a nightlight - what more can I say? It's a cold white light, not warm yellow...

Small, lightweight and does the job well., 5 Aug. 2014
Not the easiest item to write a review on as its pretty basic. but it works great, nice and light (pun intended) and throws the correct amount of light out without being overpowering.I have used night lights for when I go to hotels so I do not get confused with the layout. This one is smaller then the one I have used before and is easy to pack.Recommended!!!
