found out they need grit but not too fine and not too large, 1 May 2016
First time I've rescued baby chickens in my small London flat. Googled their care, found out they need grit but not too fine and not too large, not industrial sand which may contain chemicals ect. My girls were about 13days old, and had quite impacted crops due to my ignorance of bird keeping. This and a little olive oil and a gentle chest rub in the afternoon and evening cleared it by next morning. They are now three and a half weeks and still quite happy with the same tub. No impacted crops since, and loads of treats on a daily basis. That's their little scratching container filled with grit and live meal worms.
