Patapum Baby Carrier Khaki Version 3 is available in Front Carriers, Back Carriers

The Patapum Baby Carrier is a comfortable and very affordable lightweight pack-style carrier. The Patapum has a wide waistband and rucksack style straps with a chest strap to stop the shoulder straps from slipping. Ideal for carrying heavy toddlers, the weight of the child is felt mainly on your hips so you can carry them for long periods in comfort. Your baby is held with their legs wide apart with their back well supported. This is the optimal position for healthy growth of the pelvis and spine. It is suitable for babies from around the age of 5 months up to 40lb. The manufacturer recommends up to 18 months but it is perfectly possible and safe to use this carrier for longer (2-3 years depending on the size and weight of your child). The fabric is durable 100% cotton, apart from a soft polyester jersey which is used on the inside of the waist and shoulder straps for extra comfort. There is no padding in the body of the carrier so it is cool for you and your baby and packs up small for travelling.

Comfortable and easy to use. Better than BabyBjorn, 6 Jun. 2011
I find the Patapum comfortable and am able to carry my 8kg baby in it for a reasonable length of time, although my shoulders do still ache sometimes. It's quick easy to put on without assistance. It is so much better (and cheaper) than a BabyBjorn. So far I have only used a front carry.Drawbacks - in warm weather I get very sweaty on my front. The hood isn't very good (have just tried an Ergo, which has a much better hood for when the baby falls asleep). It's listed as being suitable from 6 months and 6 kilos - but my son was about 6 kilos when he was four months old, so it would be good to have clarification of which is more important, weight or age. It also appears that you need another adult to assist you placing your child in the carrier for doing a back carry, although perhaps you can practice doing it yourself.

Lovely but not for us, 18 Aug. 2011
This carrier was really nicely made. It didn't suit my wriggly son, though, so had to return it. The company had fantastic customer service when I had to do this.
