Surprisingly difficult!!, 24 Sept. 2009
I bought this game having enjoyed playing it in school with a boy with autism who I was working with.(He loved it) It is kept at school in the maths resources so perhaps has a greater educational value than I have credited it with! Both my children, a boy and a girl, aged 4 and 7 enjoy playing with it although it is simply the most frustrating toy we have ever played with. A simple concept...to balance the 24 chairs in a tower! Sounds easy, but it isn't. I haven't looked at their website, but it says on the tin that you can send in a picture of your completed tower, so presumably it is possible! Overall a fun family game.

Endless fun, 7 Jan. 2010

There was minor disappointment when we unwrapped the Chairs game as the chairs themselves are quite light and cheap feeling. But this was immediately forgotten as we started playing: each chair is sufficiently different from the others to make it just right for certain stacking options. The minor differences in weight and shape really make a difference when you want to stack one chair rather than another and we have been playing the game with all sorts of home made rules over and over again. It is also really interesting to see how different people (all ages) take different approaches, and the more differently minded people play together the more fun it is. I can only recommend it! The reasons I gave only four out of five for educational value and durability are: No doubt there is significant educational value but this is not its main point - please don't lecture your child on rules of physics while playing this! Also, durability still has to be tested but it all seems sturdy...
