Many nursing mothers express milk and freeze or refrigerate it for later use (by other half, grandparents, godparents, etc) and these need to be warmed before use.

Prior to trying this our way of warming was a pan of water.

Almost all of my "baby kit" is Philips Avent so I already Avent baby bottles, but you can buy spares (I have on previous occasions as I found it safer to store extra milk in the bottles rather than in the freezer bags which I have found will either leak or split - either way it is a messy business having to defrost the freezer to clean up split frozen milk.

I don't like freezing the milk, but that's my problem and needs must, as they say. It is often a good idea to have some spare milk in the freezer as a standby or if you aren't expressing a lot and need spare for when you will be unavailable to feed the baby. On the other hand if your flow is heavier then you can always store the extra in the fridge and throw it away at...

Not just for Breast Milk, 7 Oct. 2014

This is a fantastic little bottle warmer which we have been using for about a month now. Our daughter likes her bottles a bit warmer than our perfect prep machine does them now that she is older and so we had been using an old Tommee Tippee bottle warmer but unfortunately it had started either over boiling (and the water spitting out) or not heating the bottles properly and so this warmer came at an ideal time for us. It is a little bit more expensive than for example the Tommee Tippee warmer we were using but it does have an extra couple of functions such as the defrost function and separate settings for smaller bottles as opposed to bigger bottles. I will say this however that for a 210ml bottle it takes 5.5 minutes to heat it to the preferred heat setting and the Tommee Tippee warmer also took the same time and so I can't say that this is any faster than the other machine but obviously 5.5 minutes is quite fast to totally heat a bottle whichever way you look at it.

We reckon it beats the Tommee Tippee, 15 Sept. 2014
This is a neat little gadget, a handy way to warm bottles and food jars, that’s not a space-consuming blot on the worktop. We’ve tried the Tomme Tippee warmer, which looks similar and works in a similar way. The Avent control knob adjust for food type, whereas the Tommee Tippee one adjusts for temperature. The results are much the same though. The big advantage of the Avent one – the thing that really makes it worth the extra money – is the defrost feature. It certainly beats the palaver of defrosting with a microwave oven or under the tap. We’ve not been using it for long, but it has already replaced the Tommee Tippee warmer in the kitchen. We just like this one better.
