Despite the slightly dear price, and that it looks like a depressed robot, an excellent baby monitor with top-end specs!, 4 May 2011

For a baby monitor that resembles Marvin the Paranoid Android (from the 2005 film The Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy), I was very surprised with how well the baby monitor performed! Set-up was incredibly easy, as there were only two main components: the camera and the monitor. The camera itself resembles a webcam (albeit it a large one). The camera attaches to its base via a magnet, which allows for the camera position to be altered to any desired angle, whilst still being stable and secure. The monitor uses a rechargable battery, and again is very easy and simple to put in. This also runs off of a cable to the mains. Both cables are about three metres in length, meaning that plug sockets being too far away is not an issue.

We put very little work going into setting up the monitor; simply turn on both devices and they connect to each other automatically. We tested the monitor in both light and dark conditions, and it provided for excellent quality video on the monitor,...

Good , yes, expensive, yes!, 5 April 2011

First of all, this is very easy to set up. I am a bit of a technophobe, but it was straightforward. Secondly, it fascinated me that my son was in glorious technicolour in the daytime, and in black and white at night. Thirdly, the picture quality is excellent, very clear, and the sound quality is very good too.

My two main gripes with this are:

Although the canera "eye" is cleverly positioned using a magnet, it can't, (how can I put this?) look down at its feet. In other words,If the camera is above your child looking down, you will need, as we did, to prop it up at an angle with some folded paper so it can get a bird's eye view of your baby.

Gripe two: It's very, very expensive. For this price I would expect it to make my baby breakfast and read it a bedtime story. It does however, play lullabies and have a night light.

This could be vastly improved with a two way speaker as sometimes it's easier to whisper for my husband to bring up some milk/a...

Just filled in the form to return the second set, first one did not work well, camera fine, sound disappears after two minuets, received replacement promptly and having the same problems, baby cries and the receiver does not pick up anything from 20cm away. Tested it again by standing next to it and making noise, nothing received. Starts working after 20 mins and works for 30 seconds and then stops.
