Philips Avent Easy Sip Spout Cup with Handle, 7 July 2015

We have a few of these and the main difference with this sipper cup to others my children have used in the past is that the spout is extremely soft and very much like a normal bottle teat in ways. Whilst this is great for that transition between bottle and sipper, this is also the potential down side to the sipper cup, as from other reviews I have read and past experience with bottle teats this will make it very likely to split if your little one is prone to chewing them. There are replacement spouts (

) for if/when the provided spout is split however a quick internet search doesn't actually show anywhere selling them at the time of writing this review so it's worth bearing in mind that this may be a one use and buy another one product.

The cups are suitable...

Philips Avent Easy Sip Spout Cup with Handle, 1 Aug. 2015

This spill free cup is excellent for babies to make the transition from bottles to a first cup. Aimed at 6m+ the cup can take up to 7oz/200ml of liquid – water, juice or milk. If you have used Avent bottles before, these fit together in the same way – the spout pushes inside the screw in lid like a teat and there is a cover which keeps the spout clean while you are out and about. The cup is shaped very like a bottle and has a ‘ripple’ effect, plus it has two easy grip handles. The handles are red and the body of the cup is a purple colour.

The cup can be washed in a dishwasher and/or sterilised. The only downside to this is also a plus point in some ways – the ‘easy sip’ spout is soft, so helps the transition of moving from a bottle to a cup – and needs to be sucked to release the liquid inside. As such, it is not quite a ‘sip cup’ but it does mean that babies don’t choke by getting too much liquid at...

Teats split very easily, 29 Jun. 2015
We've always been fans of Philips Avent products, bought the breast pump, bottles, soothers etc. so decided to buy these once our child was old enough.Initially the cup was fantastic and was used every day, it was just the right size to hold, leak proof (unlike some other brands) and our child really liked them. But then the teat on the cup split so we had to throw it away within a month of having bought them (as we couldn’t buy replacement teats – not great from a recycling point of view). Thought we might have bought a faulty one so bought 2 more and the exact same problem happened. We also tried the SCF553 model and that had the same problem too.So all in all despite us still being big fans of Philips Avent as a brand, these particular products are not worth the money (as I said you can’t event buy replacement teats) & so I won't be buying any more nor would I recommend them.
