I've been using this little rechargeable bowl of light both as a stand alone light and with the philips bridge that I already owned. As a standalone light I like it, but I really love it once used with the bridge which allows me to unlock its full potential.
Out of the box it's quite simply a beautiful bit of design. There's a lovely simplicity about it, it can be used either in tilted or bowl position and controlled via one button at the back if you are using it without a bridge. By itself you can use seven preset light moods and program it to turn off by itself. It's brighter when plugged in, but once charged you can use it wherever you want, inside or out, for a whole three hours before the charge runs out. It's a great centre piece for an outdoor dinner or relaxing bath side companion. The light sheds quite a large arc (to give you an idea of size the diameter is just above 14cm) and it's just really beautiful to look at as it changes subtlety through shades of blue or...

The refined light of this unit is nice enough when used on its own, but it really comes alive when driven by a Philips Hue hub, which allows you to control it from a smartphone or tablet, using it with timers, alarms, pre-programmed scenes, geo-fencing and anything else that the growing library of Hue apps offer. The Hue Go is an LED-powered multi-coloured light that can run on mains or battery, and can either work from its own pre-programmed light scenes, or be driven by a Philips Hue hub, which unleashes the full flexibility of the unit. On its own, it isn't as flexible as some of the older Philips units, which came with their own remote controls, but connecting it to a Hue hub makes it quite magnificent.
This is the third generation of Philips multi-colour lights. The first ones gave ugly mixed shadows, because the red, green and blue LEDs inside were too far apart. The...

I have been using this lamp pretty-well non stop for about two weeks. As a stand alone lamp it's rather lovely to look at even when it's not switched on.
It has its own internal battery and after charging it can (obviously) be unplugged and used anywhere. A single button on the back of the unit allows one to cycle through steady individual colours, or a demo-style mode that moves through a range of colours and hues. Whilst running on battery, the brightness is reduced to conserve power, but the lighting effects still work very well; especially outside in the evening.
When mains adapter powered (supplied) the light is much brighter and in a darkened living room it is is quite captivating ... really.
However (and sorry if you already know this), to get the most out of this light one really needs to link it to something called a bridge. A bridge is a device made by Philips that can control up to fifty Hue lights ... it plugs via Ethernet cable into one's...
