Philips Avent classic feeding bottles starter set - Excellent, 26 Nov. 2013

We have tried a few bottles in the last few weeks, but the Philips Avent Classic have become our favourites. The Medela, Tommee Tippee and MAM bottles that we tried have leak issues and have complicated constructions. These bottles are easy to put together, easy to disassemble for sterilisation and easy to use. The fact that teats for older babies are readily available is another plus, so these bottles should last the baby right through their bottle feeding lifetime.This starter kit includes 2 small bottles, 2 large bottles, slow and medium flow teats, a bottle brush and a soother. Excellent value for money, and really got us going.As I said, easy to clean, easy to use, no leaks, adaptable and baby seems to like them. Nothing bad to say about these, 5 stars

Philips Avent SCD290/00 Natural Newborn Starter Set, 4 July 2012

Well Philips Avent have definitely come up with a different design teat than any other bottles I have seen and used and according to the blurb these teat's (but only with the teat ring) are transferable onto other Avent bottles and not just the Natural ones which is handy although I don't know why you would want to interchange them.

The teat's have what Avent call 'petals' on them which are basically like domed section's within the teat which make the BPA free teat's thinner at those sections but you can definitely feel that these make the teat a whole lot softer and I have got to say I am actually quite impressed with them. My son is 4.5 months old now and so isn't really the target market of these bottles but I have to got to say how I wish I had had these when he was newborn as I can definitely see the benefit of these for newer softer little mouths. He did find the teat's a little strange to feed from but I think that it is because he is used to another well known brand...

Great for Breastmilk, 16 May 2013

I purchased the newborn starter set just before my baby arrived. I am very happy with the bottles; the baby feeds from the bottle in a similar way to the breast, and she never experienced any confusion when i had to supplement her feeds in hospital. I also use the manual breast pump, and I love the interchangeability of Philips products. I would however, note the following:

1) My baby didn't take to the included dummy at all, but that's down to the individual I suppose

2) it's cheaper to buy additional starter sets than new bottles separately

3) it may be because she primarily breastfeeds, but my 8- week old still prefers the No. 1 size nipple, so you may not have to change sizes as soon as they recommend.

4)I am not sure if the Natural bottles convert to sippy cups like the Classics do

I do wish Philips would sell the bottles with the seals rather than nipples, for people who primarily use them to store breastmilk- you end up with more than enough...
