Comfortable and easy to use, 7 Jun. 2011
I read lots of reviews of this on several sites before I bought it. I am breast feeding exclusively, and I wanted something that would allow me to pump milk for a babysitter or my husband to give to our daughter. This is perfect; simple and comfortable to use, and doesn't require an egineering degree to dismantle for cleaning. The only problem with this set is that there is only one 'adaptor' to attach the pump and teat to the cups, this means that you cannot pump from the second breast while the baby is receiving the milk pumped from the first. There are times, particularly when travelling, when you can't take baby out of the car seat, that this would have been useful. However, extra parts for the Philips products seem easily available and I have bought a second adaptor for future use.

Try this before going electric, 18 April 2012

I am a new mum and the first time I used it, it was really uncomfortable and I barely expressed anything. But I went back at it a couple days later and have been happy with the results. I've been using it a couple times a day everyday since. My problem is with oversupply/strong letdown/engorgement and pumping helps my baby from being overwhelmed and choking.

Here are some tips:

- the petals should only touch the aerolea not the nipple, otherwise you will be in for some soreness

- stimulate letdown by pumping in quick succession the first 10 seconds or so

- it is not necessary to squeeze pump all the way down to get a good milk flow

- RELAX. Take deep breaths and visualize milk flowing from your breast. It really helps!

I'm happy with product and am glad i tried this first before investing in an expensive electric pump. I took one star off because of occasional leaking from the pump; the best way to prevent a mess is to have a burp cloth...

Good for the price, 11 Nov. 2011
As a first time user of a manual breast pump, I found this very easy to assemble and use. The set comes with 2 storage pots and adequate parts. There are 2 things which let this product down..one minor issue is that it makes an annoying squeaking sound when in use, hardly discreet! The other, main issue is that the silicon attachment doesn't fit particularly well and when the pump is removed from the breast, leaks milk. Also for some reason the milk doesn't deposit into the cup/bottle properly and tends to gather at the top which means you then have to remove the pump from the breast and tip the milk into the cup/bottle...which is when you get the leaking as mentioned above.Overall, I would say this kit is good for the money but probably not good for long term use
